It’s tough to break into softballs “ inner circle” in more ways than one. California players will always be given preference, even though per capita, GA produces more D-1 players. Look at team USA 80 percent of players are from CA. It’s the same for recruiting rankings. Grein turned down UCLA to commit to the Hokies. That will no doubt push her rating down. If she committed to the Bruins the softball ‘ pundits’ would be hailing her as the next Lisa Fernandez. It is what it is. It’s a challenge to enter the “circle” with a budget and field like Tech has, but it can be done. There’s no shortage of hard workers here in our program to make that happen.
